Cory Church’s contribution to nursing has primarily focused on discovering the transition to practice for newly licensed registered nurses. He has a passion for motivating nurses to continue their ongoing professional development and is awarded this opportunity through his work and research.

Dr. Church is board certified in Nursing Professional Development. Globally, his scholarship focuses on all aspects of the transition to practice for nurses and how this impacts nurses' professional development.

Dr. Church is interested in discovering best practices for implementing nurse residency programs while studying the work environment among nurse residents. His areas of focus include job satisfaction, organizational commitment, empowerment, civility, and psychological capital. He has worked to help obtain accreditation for a nurse residency program and currently serves as an appraiser for other programs seeking accreditation.

Dr. Church has also consulted with nurse residency programs about the transition to practice. In his current work of educating senior undergraduate nursing students, he helps students identify work environments that foster a successful transition to practice.
